Hello. I teach TOEFL, medical and business translation at ILC. I’m interested in science, baroque music, linguistics, grammatology and art. As a part of the ILC team, I would like to welcome you to our school.

ILC has been providing English language and technical education to students from a wide variety of backgrounds for the past 40 years. ILC has programs currently not found at other language schools such as patent, medical and advanced business translation.

I teach in many of these programs and would like to take this opportunity to greet all prospective and current students. Currently, I am in charge of our TOEFL, medical and business translation courses and work extensively with graduate students and other researchers in helping with academic presentations.

The ILC staff is committed to assisting students in finding courses that fit their needs.

I hope you have a chance to drop by our office and say hello.

Mark Addison ■Mark Addison
Mark Addison has been living in Osaka for seven years and teaching at the ILC since 2005. He graduated from Indiana University in 2002 with a BA in East Asian Languages and Literature and has a minor in English. He enjoys music, gaming, and old radio shows.

Hello there, my name is Mark. I have been teaching English in Japan for over seven years, five of which have been with the ILC. I now face my greatest teaching challenge of my life: raising my son in both English and Japanese! With our knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and sometimes eccentric teachers, the ILC is the ideal place for students who have specific goals when it comes to improving their English, and also want to enjoy the journey.

Shane Walsh ■Shane Walsh
I have lived in Japan for seven years. I teach at Ritsumeikan University, International Buddhist University and Owada International High School. I have a Masters Degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia.

I am married and have two young boys. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching sports, riding my bicycle and swimming. Before I came to Japan I obtained a Degree in Sports Administration. I worked for 2 years in a membership and marketing position at a professional Australian Rules Football club. I also worked for almost 3 years in a procurement role for Melbourne Water Corporation.

I try to encourage English learners to improve their relationship building skills in English - making friends, developing professional relationships and becoming a good conversationalist. I think these things can make the experience of learning English more rewarding, particularly if the learner plans to use their English with native speakers when travelling, living or working.
