Hello everyone:

Sometimes problems easiest-to-understand are the hardest-to-fix.

In this back-to-the-basics seminar, I'm going to take a new look at some old problems in patent/technical translation. For instance, in U.S. patent claims, if "an X" always means "at least one X," isn't always correct to use "an X," not "Xs," the first time? And what about "if" versus "when": When to use "when," and when, if ever, to use "if"?

I'll be sharing my experience and advice learned from translating, checking translations of, and prosecuting, U.S. patent specifications. I think even old-hand veterans, not just greenhorns, can benefit from taking a fresh look at seemingly stale issues. I hope that I have!
